My work with families as well as my own experience has led me to believe that we are in a crisis. The rush of our world is not conducive to raising well-balanced, grounded children. Even if you have your schedule adjusted in a way that creates a calm foundation, societal images remain hectic, consumer-focused and continue to send messages about what our little girls should be, do and look like. Over time I will add links to resources, tips and articles to combat some of these messages. I will also add a "Mom's Treasure" section to the newsletter (see Home page for subscribing).
If I had my child to raise all over again,
I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging.
