Celebrating Self = Self Care

I was honored to be the guest expert this month for Journaling Moms Coach, Tina Games and the members of her Journaling Moms Cafe. Tina has given me permission to share this link as a sample of what she offers in her virtual cafe. Both she and I had a great dialogue about the importance of self-care and self-celebration, which is what my journaling work is all about. We also talked about my book, "Lifelines: Celebrate Your Journey" and its companion journal and monthly planner. ~ Enjoy the audio (there are some writing prompts included in the conversation) and feel free to post any comments.

Launching

My oldest daughter graduates from college tomorrow (where does the time go?!).  So I thought it fitting that I found this picture at Graphics Fairy with the corner word "Launching".  That's what our jobs are with our children ~preparing them to launch into the world, navigating their way and finding their own path.  And then it's time for us to do the same ~ who am I besides "mom"?  What's my role in this new chapter - for her and me?  Write in your journal about a time you've had to let go and re-define your purpose.  Consider too, the idea of embracing possibilities.  What possibilities are on your horizon?

Emily Carr Journal Prompt

Emily Carr painting - public domain

Oh the glory of growth, silent, mighty, persistent, inevitable.  To awaken, to open up like a flower to the light of a fuller consciousness!  I want to see and feel and expand, little book, you holder of my secrets.  (Emily Carr, 10/17/1930 journal entry)

Write about how this quote and/or painting call to you.

A Mom's Quick Note of Thanks

I love this postcard from Graphics Fairy!  This week has been a hard one for my family but one of the things I've noticed is the ability of a child to bring a smile, regardless of what else is going on.  So today, I thank my girls for being their mom. I thank my girls for smiles and laughter.  I thank my girls for reminding me of what's important.  I thank my girls for bubbles and fingerpainting. I thank my girls for picture clouds and star gazing.  I thank my girls for dirty feet and sticky fingers.   I thank my girls for reminding me that life goes on.

What do you thank the children in your life for?
