Tribes

I just returned from an inspiring weekend participating at the Story Circle Network conference. I had been looking forward to a weekend of like-minded sisters but had not envisioned what that looked like. The sense of community, the spirit of validation and nurturing and the vibrant courageous women telling their stories was a memorable, awakening experience. The thread of finding your "tribe" was woven throughout.

Carve out a few minutes to write and reflect on what "tribe" means to you and who your tribe is. Consider if your tribe needs expanding and if so, what would that look like?

  4. Lovely to think of our SCN tribe, Dawn--it's a very special kinship that to me means caring support in an uncaring and sometimes even hostile world. Thanks for being a part of our tribe!

  5. Tribe is a good word and comforting too. There are many types of people out there, supporting each other, (caring) who all belong to something (SCN). I picture a perennial garden, glorious in variety and color, all part of my inner and outer landscape. We are like a garden, too. They don't say, "garden variety" for nothing.

  6. I was at Stories from the Heart last weekend as well. I had that same feeling of being part of a tribe, community or family of women writers. I have a critique group in real time and I'm always looking for like minded women. Thank you for putting it so succinctly. It was amazing to see all these women together, experience the collective energy, and see how manystories are held in the hearts of women everywhere

  7. Dear Dawn,

You say it well & your words clearly echo with others. Your "tribe" writing prompt is well-placed & applicable beyond the conference.

  8. Dawn,

I, too, was struck by the sense of community and nurturing at the conference. I was also impressed by all of the workshops and sessions I attended. I'm glad to see you are putting what you learned into action with your new blog!
