Celebrate Your Journey

yourjourneyspassport2

As I prepare to teach my next class through Story Circle Network, I am reminded of why I began this journey ~ a belief in the healing power of writing, a belief that each moment is so incredibly important, a belief that we all deserve to be joyful and we all have a story to tell.  What’s interesting to me is that I set out to guide others, and yet have learned so much from others and even more about myself.  I am incredibly thankful for my association with Story Circle Network.  Through them, I have met so many great women, made friends and been given incredible opportunities.

What people, organizations or events have positively impacted your life?

  1. That' a good question. I would have to answer just about everything. I think that everything that happens or comes into your life is for a reason. We need to learn from everyone and everything.

  2. Over the last 25 years (yikes, that long??) as I have been involved with children in schools in different countries, different cultures and backgrounds, I have gradually become aware of how important Storytelling is to everyone. In Irealnd we are still talkers and every single interaction with every peoson in one's day involves a story, however brief. The same in East Africa in the African Cultures and most of the Indian too. But we are the lucky people and nowadays small children don't always have the gift to grow up up the telling and listening of stories. Its something I try to be always aware of when I'm in school, to listen and encourage all the stories and sagas whenever an individual wants to tell it.

  4. Ha ha I have to chuckle at myself as I realize the older I get the more difficult it is to answer this kind of question briefly and succinctly; and that's a good thing. I would have to say that having been fortunate enough to work as an Advocate/Counselor for 2 decades I have had the oportunity to know and learn from both co workers and clients.
Most recently I have been active in helping some of our local laid off teachers appeal for funding to regain their jobs. I am inspired by the suport from the community, parents and students alike. I also have to agree with Karen, if we are open to experience and learning every day offers opportunities for growth and inspiration!

  6. Blogging has been a healing, positive experience for me. I'm only 3 months in but loving it. My autistic daughter is my hero and it's amazing how much positive has come out of something that was initially so painful.

P.S. I love the look of your site...I've seen alot of them and yours is beautiful!
