When the storm hit suddenly in the middle of a sunny day filled with surf and sand, the groans from children echoed across the beach.
As for me, I enjoyed nature’s poetry and thought of this as Mother Earth’s way to cleanse and heal.
And then I was reminded of this Native American proverb I use often because it is so beautiful ~ The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears.
Write about a time in your life when pain was necessary for growth.

ReplyDeleteI believe that true growth of any kind has 'growing pains'. Spiritual, emotional, even physical growth come with their own brand or type of pain.
When I was 12 my father passed away. I lived my whole life without him - and it was painful. However, as I look back over the 30+ years he's been gone I realize that my life would not be so rich, full, or rewarding as it is in this moment, had it not been for that single tragic event.
Was this realization painful? Yes, very - I had to stretch the heart muscle quite a bit to get the good growth out of the experience - and even now those little growing pains sneak back in from time to time... but I have learned that blooming where you're planted is a great way to grow!
So glad you stopped by ~ thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteMary ~ Honestly, I don't own a digital camera but I do want one:) I use my cell phone coupled w/ Microsoft Live Writer. And I couldn't have asked for a better setting!
The proverb is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne & thanks for coming by!
ReplyDeleteWow... I'm glad I read that. Really glad. I've been spending the last year and a half or so recovering from a divorce. It's comforting to know that the soul has a rainbow at the end of the tears...
ReplyDeleteThanks.

ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome family. New follower here from the Tell Me blog hop. It's that was life is growth from pain...none of us can escape it. My big growth spurt came when I left a religious community while managing to retain my faith. I'd like it if you followed my blog too. Can't have too many blogging buddies if you ask me.

There are so many times in my life that pain has resulted in growth. Losing my mother was the hardest of them all.
