Yesterday’s challenge from the SITS girls is to write a post about a woman who inspires you.
And of course we could all name a number of people who are inspiring & for me those would be within my family, but since we are in blogworld I thought this would be a good time to introduce an award that I’ll be handing out sporadically ~ this comes with no strings, no rules. For thoughtful, inspiring blogging, visit http://www.mydailyspirit.net/.
Write a letter to yourself about how you are inspiring. Don’t look for the accolades in life but look to the details, the moments you held a friend’s hand or wiped a tear from a child’s face; the moments that your laughter was infectious or you grew wings on the way; the moments where you allowed silence to comfort you or shared time and space.
Wow. What a great award. I'll have to think about this one, not just follow some superficial rules. It's hard for those of us who have more trouble accepting our positive aspects than our faults. That makes it a great exercise too. So, I'll think about it, and hopefully come up with some worthy reasons to earn your award.

ReplyDeleteThis a fabulous idea. It is so often that as women, mothers, caretakers we don't give ourselves credit. I used to use a similar exercise with my Women's Survivor Group, it was so difficult for them. Finally I changed it to have them write a letter to their "ideal friend" visualizing what qualities that person would possess. When they were done, I had then address envelopes and mail the letters to themselves. Putting all those qualities into an imaginary other person was easy, claiming them as their own...not so much. It was interesting, but not surprising really, to note that the letters really did describe many qualities this women already possessed, but didn't acknowledge.
