Mom’s Treasure & ATC’s

So I finally tried ATC’s

And as you can see I need more practice and textures but I still had fun

To see gorgeous examples along with a how- to visit Shona Cole's blog.

My 9 year old daughter was really excited about this project and wants to do this with me.  I have seen on some blogs where these ATC’s are traded and would love to see if anyone has children interested in creating & trading with my little one for the holidays…

Although I love technology, I also am saddened @ the lack of anticipation over the mailbox.  Junk mail & bills aren’t fun & my daughter doesn’t even understand the concept of a pen pal.  Let me know if you would be open to our children/grandchildren swapping holiday ATC’s ~ comment here or send me an e-mail @

Finally, you may have noticed that some of my posts have focused more on children recently.  I will continue posts about our own self-discovery & finding our voices, but I believe it’s important that we raise our daughters to do the same.  I will continue to weave that theme in some of my posts and have added a new page (tab across the top) called “Mom’s Treasures”.  As I find resources, articles etc I will add links there.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Beautiful blog!

I love the idea of the ATCs, and I think yours are beautiful! I also like the idea of children doing this for the holidays, and I'm going to pass the idea on to my sister. It would be too fiddly a project for me to do by myself as I'd lack the patience, but it would also be a fun thing to do with a bunch of girlfriends.

  2. Wow those turned out beautifully! I remember making those with my daughter a few years back, when she was about 12. Funny I just found a ziplock bag with a bunch of them in it while I was cleaning recently :) Good memories!

  3. Purty stuff. Don't have a clue what you're talking about but I do like the finished products!

  4. Your ATC's are lovely. My favorite is the one with the cross.

  5. Here from the Hop ... hope that you are having a Fab Fall Weekend. Down in FL, we are trying our very best to make it seems a little like Fall, trying :)
Please make a note that Wednesday Wishlist is my blog hop on you guessed it, Wednesday - for The Twelve Weeks of Christmas with a fab bling piece giveaway - don't miss, make a note and you just have to sign up!

  6. I would be more than willing to do a pen pal/swap between our daughters! I think it's important to teach our little ones that life isn't all about technology!

  7. I think your focus on children is great. Wonderful that you're taking the time and making the effort. Children need good leadership, good parenting, good teachers.

  8. Glad I found you on the #monkeytribe!

  9. So nice to see everyone & I appreciate the nice comments! Heather ~ I'll be in touch.
Cheryl ~ funny, I'm not sure what I'm talking about either. I've seen these Artist Trading Cards (aka mini mixed media)& I wanted to give them a try.

  10. Oh,Dawn,yes you got the awards :)
It's my fault for not contacting you as soon as I write the post about the awards. I'm so sorry...

  11. Dawn, so glad to see you wade into the atc world, it is fun, isn't it? and talking more and more about your kids, I am all about that!!!

  13. Dawn, that last comment was me signed in with my new gmail address that is not linked to blogger! so frustrating they can't be combined.... sorry to vent here!

  14. Dewi Citra - no need to apologize, I appreciate that you thought of me!
Shona - Thanks for coming by & your inspiration!

  15. OH! That IS a wonderful post, Dawn! I LOVE the ATCs! Never have done them myself. Truth be told, I had to go over to The Artistic Life to find out what they are, but we could have so much fun with those here!

  16. Dawna ~ glad you checked it out...I thought we might be "like-minded":)

  17. I just made my first today, and it will post in the morning to my blog.
If you go up to the top of my blog you will see a section about the ornament exchange. I would love to see you join in and trade your holiday ATC's as an ornament. Read about it and see what you think.
I look forward to following you.

  18. Great Idea Dawn.I am looking forward to hearing more!
