Mom’s Treasure & ATC’s

1009001037

So I finally tried ATC’s

1009001037a

And as you can see I need more practice and textures but I still had fun

1009001037b

To see gorgeous examples along with a how- to visit Shona Cole's blog.

My 9 year old daughter was really excited about this project and wants to do this with me.  I have seen on some blogs where these ATC’s are traded and would love to see if anyone has children interested in creating & trading with my little one for the holidays…

Although I love technology, I also am saddened @ the lack of anticipation over the mailbox.  Junk mail & bills aren’t fun & my daughter doesn’t even understand the concept of a pen pal.  Let me know if you would be open to our children/grandchildren swapping holiday ATC’s ~ comment here or send me an e-mail @ dawn@lifelinesjournaling.com.

Finally, you may have noticed that some of my posts have focused more on children recently.  I will continue posts about our own self-discovery & finding our voices, but I believe it’s important that we raise our daughters to do the same.  I will continue to weave that theme in some of my posts and have added a new page (tab across the top) called “Mom’s Treasures”.  As I find resources, articles etc I will add links there.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Beautiful blog!

I love the idea of the ATCs, and I think yours are beautiful! I also like the idea of children doing this for the holidays, and I'm going to pass the idea on to my sister. It would be too fiddly a project for me to do by myself as I'd lack the patience, but it would also be a fun thing to do with a bunch of girlfriends.

  2. Wow those turned out beautifully! I remember making those with my daughter a few years back, when she was about 12. Funny I just found a ziplock bag with a bunch of them in it while I was cleaning recently :) Good memories!

  6. I would be more than willing to do a pen pal/swap between our daughters! I think it's important to teach our little ones that life isn't all about technology!

  7. I think your focus on children is great. Wonderful that you're taking the time and making the effort. Children need good leadership, good parenting, good teachers.

  15. OH! That IS a wonderful post, Dawn! I LOVE the ATCs! Never have done them myself. Truth be told, I had to go over to The Artistic Life to find out what they are, but we could have so much fun with those here!

  17. I just made my first today, and it will post in the morning to my blog.
If you go up to the top of my blog you will see a section about the ornament exchange. I would love to see you join in and trade your holiday ATC's as an ornament. Read about it and see what you think.
I look forward to following you.
