Eliminate Mental Clutter

Whenever I’m dealing with too much swirling inside my head, I have to write.  I don’t care if it’s coherent, I just have to get it on paper.  Recently, after several pages of dribble, I asked myself some pointed questions and ended up with the following process:

ontop

(The very first one, ready to feel on top of the my world again ~ control issue popping back up but in a healthier way, literally as I went back to the gym this past week…of course, I was just easing myself back into it & didn’t make it past the hot tub!)

Then I reminded myself, again, of my word of the year…it really shouldn’t be so hard, it is just one word!  Those are balloons at the top with what I want to “release” written on them.  I found an old book on organizing your household and loved the phrase I found in it ~ Eliminate Mental Clutter

You can’t see the words in the petals and stems but this was an entry (basically all covered in paint now) about manifesting abundance by recognizing that I have all that I need already.

The following did not start with the writing first, which is what I usually do (probably backwards from “real” art journals) but instead it was the picture that called to me.  The peacock feathers look like mini artist trading cards.  My caption Strut Even When You Don’t Feel It… or as my mom always said fake it until you make it

And finally, When All Else Fails, Eat Cupcakes…so much for my healthier outlook:)

I used the following writing prompts…give them a try & see where they take you:

~ What do you need right now?

~ What’s in the way?

~ How will you get there?

For the record, in case you are new here…I am all about the process, not the product.  No judging allowed:)

Oh, I almost forgot…I have two upcoming workshops.  One through Story Circle Network, Life Books, beginning the first of April and Mom’s Treasure: A Storybook Workshop beginning in May (see tab at the top of the page).  Hope you can join me!

  2. Dawn, I'm certain you already know this, but I must state it - you're amazing. What beautiful drawing and thinking. I've been a little preoccupied with outcomes rather than process lately. Thanks for the reminder not to miss out on the journey.

(Thanks for your supportive comments on my blog.)
